API Terms
Last updated: 2026-07-20
These API Terms govern access to the Over The Math Wallpartner API by publishers, authors, and institutions (“Partners”). They supplement the Terms of Service and any commercial agreement between us; the commercial agreement prevails on conflict. Acceptance is recorded when the person creating an API key accepts these terms: a personal developer, or an authorized organization administrator or developer.
1. Access and keys
- API access requires an enabled personal or organization partner account and an API key. Keys are shown once at creation and stored by us only as a hash. Organization keys may be created by an organization administrator or developer.
- Keep keys confidential and use them only server-side. Rotate a key immediately if you suspect it is compromised, and notify us.
- You are responsible for all usage under your keys.
2. Permitted use
You may call the API to generate worksheets and integrate the results into your own products and services for your end users, within the scope, quota, and branding arrangements agreed with us.
3. Restrictions
- Do not resell or sublicense raw API access, or operate the API as a white-label worksheet-generation service, unless agreed in writing.
- Do not send us personal data of students or other end users in API requests; the API does not need it and we do not want it.
- Do not circumvent quotas or rate limits, share keys between organizations, or misrepresent generated content’s origin where attribution has been agreed.
4. Billing modes, quotas, and availability
Depending on your plan, API usage is billed in one of the following ways. In every mode the API is provided “as is”, without uptime guarantees unless a separate SLA has been agreed. We may change or version the API; for breaking changes we will give reasonable advance notice where practicable.
- Monthly quota. Usage is subject to the monthly quota configured for your organization. Once the quota is reached, further calls are declined until the next period unless you arrange an increase. Only successfully completed worksheet-generation requests count against the quota.
- Credit bundles. Credits are purchased in one-time bundles and consumed only when the Service successfully completes a generation, at one credit for each requested exercise (including its answer). Credits are valid for 12 months from purchase, are non-transferable, are not money, and have no cash value. Any free trial credits are discretionary and may be revoked at any time. When your balance is lower than the credits required for a request, that request is declined until you purchase more or an automatic refill completes.
Refunds for prepaid credit packs are handled as described in the Terms of Service; credits are a digital consumable.
5. Embeds
The embed feature lets you display a worksheet you generated on your own website through a link or iframe we host. We grant you a non-exclusive, revocable license to display embedded worksheets; the embed may carry Over The Math Wall branding. You are responsible for the allowed-domains list you configure for each embed and for the pages on which you place it. We may revoke an embed at any time, for example on breach of these terms or a security concern.
6. LaTeX export and use of generated exercises
Where the API returns LaTeX or other source for the exercises it generates, we grant you a non-exclusive license to use, adapt, and include those exercises in your own publications and teaching materials, including commercial ones (for example, a textbook or workbook you author). You may not resell the raw output as a competing worksheet-generation product, nor redistribute it in bulk as a dataset.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or revoke keys, or disable API access, for breach of these terms, security risk, or non-payment under the commercial agreement. Sections on restrictions, licenses, liability, and confidentiality survive termination.
8. Liability
The disclaimers and limitation of liability in the Terms of Service apply to API use, unless the commercial agreement provides otherwise.
